FEES/REBATES/RESOURCES

MEDICARE

Medicare benefits are available for a range of specified psychological services for people with certain conditions. To be eligible to receive psychological services under Medicare, a person must be referred by his or her GP or in some instances by a psychiatrist or a paediatrician.

Eligible patients can claim up to ten sessions per calendar year through Medicare.

PRIVATE HEALTH FUNDS

Many private health funds offer a rebate for treatment sessions with a Clinical Psychologist.  It is a good idea to check with your fund to ensure that they cover mental health consultations.  Health fund rebates do not require a GP referral.  Please also note that you cannot claim from Medicare and your health fund for the same consultation.

CONSULTATION FEES

The Australian Psychological Society (APS) sets guidelines for fees for psychological services. The current recommended fee as at 2017-2018 for a standard session (45-60 minutes) is $246.

*Reduced fees are considered under special circumstances

Payment of fees are due at the end of each session and can be made by cash, credit card or EFTPOS

CORPORATE PROGRAMS, WORKSHOPS AND FACILITATION

Set programs, specialised courses and facilitation are by quotation and will be based on the location, number of participants, content and materials required.
